Our Story

Welcome to Salt Spring Ice Cream!

Where passion for plants and love for ice cream come together in a unique and delightful fusion. Founded by Bridgit Sova, a high school special education teacher with a green thumb and a sweet tooth, Salt Spring Ice Cream is the culmination of her journey from nurturing houseplants as a hobby to creating a haven where plant enthusiasts and ice cream lovers alike can indulge their senses. Inspired by the idea of pairing her two favorite things, Bridgit envisioned a space where the lush greenery of houseplants intertwines harmoniously with the creamy sweetness of artisanal ice cream, offering a truly immersive and unforgettable experience.

Located in the Village of Sanford, Michigan, Salt Spring Ice Cream was born out of a desire to contribute to the revitalization of the Village following the devastating flood of 2020. Recognizing the absence of an ice cream store since the disaster, Bridgit saw an opportunity to not only satisfy a community craving but also to be a part of something much larger—a movement to breathe new life into Sanford. The name "Salt Spring" pays homage to the area's rich history, dating back to its original name in the 1830s, the Salt Spring Reserve. By choosing this name, Bridgit honors the town's legacy while looking forward to a future filled with growth, community, and, of course, delicious ice cream. Join us at Salt Spring Ice Cream as we embark on a journey to celebrate the past, savor the present, and create lasting memories for generations to come.
